In addition to suffering 5 sacks, Esiason fumbles 4 times (losing 2) and throws 3 INTs (2 by rookie Thomas Everett and 1 by rookie Rod Woodson, who returns it 45 yds for his first TD as a pro). Despite falling behind 23-9, the Bengals get back in the game late, scoring on short run with 2:20 remaining to pull within a TD. But it's too little, too late as Malone puts it away on the ensuing drive, breaking outside on a bootleg and racing down the sideline for a stunning 42-yd TD with just 48 seconds left. |
