1987 Steelers 20 at Chargers 16

Joined in progress as the Chargers block a Harry Newsome punt for a TD. Minutes later on 4th and goal, San Diego fumbles the ball away at the Steeler 1, but Mark Malone is sacked in the end zone for a safety to give San Diego a 9-0 lead. From there, San Diego implodes.

Although the Chargers outgain Pittsburgh 435 to 254, they suffer 5 turnovers and 3 missed FGs en route to their epic 0-7 season-ending collapse. Dwight Stone recovers a Charger muffed punt resulting in an 8-yd Pollard TD run before the half. The Steelers add 10 points in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by a 47-yd Malone bomb to Weegie Thompson to set up Malone's 7-yd TD scramble. On Pittsburgh's next drive, a 28-yd Malone scramble sets up a FG. Another Anderson FG extends Pittsburgh's lead to 20-9 in the 4th, and a late Chargers rally ends when Fout's Hail Mary is swatted away in the end zone.
