1985 Steelers 7 at Browns 17 MNF A pair of Mark Malone INTs in the 4th-quarter seal a frustrating 17-7 Monday night loss in the Dawg Pound. The Browns lead 10-0 after 3 quarters, but a nifty 38-yd punt return by Louis Lipps sets Pittsburgh up at the Cleveland 15 early in the 4th quarter and in a rare bright spot, Malone immediately hits Stallworth for a TD to pull the Steelers within 10-7. The Steelers have the ball and a chance to take the lead late, but backup LB Curtis Weathers sacks Malone at the Steeler 9-yd line and then intercepts him on the next play to set up the clinching score, a 21-yd burst by Earnest Byner with 2:37 remaining. Malone caps a miserable 18-of-45 performance with another INT in the final seconds. Features cool pregame interview with Jack Lambert and Doug Dieken. |
